Opening Pandora’s Box

Bombs, bullets and pollution?
Is that what we want?
Who are we kidding?

This is about money and power
And the misuse of land, Mother Earth.
Do we need another School of the Americas?
Another Blackwater?
Help, how do we get out?
Of the terror – of our own creation?

If people and beauty don’t count,
What about panthers, bears, birds and a
Beautiful creek?  Clear, clean water?
Or pollution, all the way to Lake Okeechobee.

This is the proposed Eagle Training Center
Where people come to learn to kill.
Read the fine print, it’s not just for Americans.
The Business Plan has little detail and vague budget.
Who can run a company on that?
Federal contracts?  Any one’s guess.
Jobs, for whom?  When? It would be years.
And not local.
Money and politics, of course.

There is no need, but if you build it
They will come: the “mercenaries,”
Construction and development equals
Tearing apart the environment, ruining ecosystems,
Increasing vehicle, tank, air traffic and its pollution.

This is supposed to be Venus,
Goddess of love and beauty
The reason we moved here.
Why beauty must stay,
And why this beast
Of human’s making
Must disappear.
